E-Plus- “New Wave”
The state of North Carolina has always been known for producing the best athletes and sports teams, but now they are known for having some great Musical Talent. Artist like Petey Pablo are often credited for Putting the spotlight on NC, but artist like Big Brother and J Cole kept the spotlight on.
There is one particular artist that is carrying on Tradition For Carolina Emcees, and he goes by the name of E Plus. E plus has quickly climbed the ranks as one of Carolina’s Top Rappers to look out for. His Recent Mixtape has of the City On Fire! E plus sat down with us to tell us his story and how he plans to carry on tradition....
What’s Good Fam...How Did you get the name E Plus? My big homey Dulla gave me that name, Young E was first, till I got older. Can’t stay young forever.
How long have you been rapping? For 6 years
I know that you are originally from Brooklyn. When did you Move to North Carolina? When I was 16, but I was still going back to Brooklyn every summer.
Is that a benefit being from NY and growing up in the South? Not really, because when you in a city where you weren’t born from, its hard to fit in, luckily they expected me for who I am. I didn’t talk shit, and I never been a bitch.
How did you get in the Music Scene out there in NC? Going to clubs and networking with serious artists, that were about their business.
When did you realize that you had what it takes to take rap serious? The moment DJ
PRINCE told me I was hot. LOL
What is your writing process like? It depends on the track I do, it can take up to 2 weeks or 2 hours, I believe in taking time with the music.
What artist do you respect in the game? I respect a lot of artists in the game, but the artist I respect the most is styles P
What separates you from any other rapper in the game? My personality, and my ear for music.
I know you just dropped your Mixtape. What has the feedback been like? mannn it’s crazy love in Raleigh, my next stop to drop my mixtape is charlotte. I wanted my home town
Brooklyn to be the last stop I drop it at.
What projects do you have coming up? My next mixtape, its called DON’T FORGET WHERE YOU FROM BUT REMEMBER WHERE YOU AT. I linked up with a lot of fire spitters that’s from different cities for this 1.
Do you feel pressure living up to the hype that all Brooklyn emcees have to be nice? Nah, this is what I love to do, so there’s no pressure at all.
