Broward County All-Stars: Ridiculous Rowe

Written by D. Francis

Nine5Four The Magazine Broward County All-Stars: Ridiculous RoweIt is one thing to have talent, but yet another to have the allure to match. Florizel Rowe Jr., known as “Ridiculous Rowe”, is the up-and-coming talent from South Florida that is both alluring and talented. From his quick-witted lyrics to his clever delivery, Ridiculous Rowe is proving his talent is not one to be overlooked.

Born December 9, 1987 to Jamaican parents, Ridiculous Rowe was raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida’s Melrose Manors before the family relocated to Coconut Creek in 1997. The younger of two children, Rowe began writing poetry in school and exploring his knack for words and lyrics. Upon enrolling in Coconut Creek’s Monarch High School, the students were given laptops to use and Rowe discovered the Pro Tools software program—used for beat making and music production—and began putting the program to use making songs and compiling them into mixtapes. “They [mixtapes] actually came out good, so I just kept going after I graduated,” says Rowe.

Ridiculous Rowe has come quite a ways since his start with a chance discovery and some homemade mixtapes. Gifted with a versatile style ranging from the typical South Florida “jook” sound to a harder street-edge, Rowe has been determined to make his voice heard and his Broward County counterparts are taking notice, voting him one of the hottest artists in Broward County. He has collaborated with Brisco, Urban Mystic and Scotty Boi of Maybach Music Group to name a few and is steadily developing his artistry and reach. With influences like Lauryn Hill, Andre 3000, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., and Erykah Badu among others, Ridiculous Rowe’s musical style can’t help but be ridiculous!
