ow may I help you? This month, I decided to make it the month in which I take YOUR questions and give you MY answers to them. Please recognize that I am not a professional. I am only giving my opinion strictly on an entertainment level. My opinion is just that and may not reflect those of Nine5Four The Magazine or it’s sponsors. Now, let’s begin.

My parents are always saying that I can’t go this place and that place. I feel like they’re afraid to let go and let me grow up. How can I talk to my folks about this without making it seem like I’m being mean? Samantha M. – 16

Parents will be parents. They may seem over protective at times, but they only have your best interest in mind. To answer your question, I think you should ask your parents out to dinner or maybe even cook dinner for them, and just tell them how you feel. Make sure that your tone is leveled because when us teens tend to talk about things that bother us, our voice may seem high and loud thus sending the wrong message to our parents. Make sure you are clear about what your intentions are for having the conversation. Acknowledge the fact that you understand that your parents want the best for you, but the way they’re doing so is sending the wrong message to you. Because the discussion is taking place over dinner, try not to bring up drastic things that you want to change in the situation so your parents won’t regurgitate!!!

My friend told me that she did something that I think is one of the stupidest things that she could ever do. She asked me for my honest opinion on the matter. I really don’t want to be honest with her because she may not like what I have to say, but I want to tell her because I feel she needs to hear it. What do you think I should do? Makeba MC. – 16

Honesty is the best policy. She did ask for the truth and if you really think she needs to hear it, tell it all. She may not like what you have to say at first, but if you guys are really friends, she’ll eventually realize that you won’t steer her in the wrong direction. Make sure that your discussion is straight to the point and don’t beat around the bush. Don’t leave anything out that you think you need to tell her; give her your full opinion. With that, best of luck in your situation.

I like to dress how I feel. If I feel sleepy, I dress in pajamas. However I feel people will know by the way I dress. My friends think that I need to dress like everyone else. Do you think I should go with the flow or go against the grain? Nick H. – 15

Personally, I think you should stand out. If that’s how you want to dress, dress that way. Keep it real with yourself, and you’ll feel better about yourself. Ask yourself the question, “Am I a leader, or a follower?” You decide, and you’ll know what to do.
