UP AND COMING DESIGNER WILLIAM BOSTON OF WILLIAM BOSTON APPAREL IS QUICKLY CHANGING THAT, AND SHOWING THAT FLORIDA HAS SOMETHING TO OFFER AS WELL. I GOT A CHANCE TO SET DOWN WITH MR BOSTON.

WHATS GOOD MAN?

CHILLIN MAN

GIVE THE PEOPLE A LITTLE HISTORY ABOUT YOUR LINE

Well my line is mostly urban wear with a lot of hand painted material but we’re evolving it into more of a full scale clothing line ya dig!!!

WHAT DO YOU THING SOME OF THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTIONS ARE OF MALE FASHION DESIGNERS IN THE INDUSTRY?

I don’t know being that I’m from the hood I really don’t know, the only people that get perveived as something are those French folks who seem to have a little sugar in da tank, ya smell me!!!

WHAT HAPPNED IN YOUR LIFE THAT MADE YOU REALIZE LIKE HEY I WANT TO BE A FASHION DESIGNER, YOU KNOW MOST NIGGAZ WANT TO BE BALL PLAYERS, RAPPERS, AND DOPE DEALERS.

We’ll I started out with the whole NBA dream cuz I played ball my whole life ya digg but when I got to college I played for a NIAA school not a D-1 so basically there was no light at the end of the tunnel. I started out painting shoes and took it to another level with t-shirts and when I seen I could make money doing it I stop ballin and started painting.

I KNOW YOU HAVE BEEN ON UR GRIND WITH THE CLOTHES FOR A WHILE NOW..WHAT IS YOUR MOTIVATION TO KEEP PUSHIN AND NOT GIVING UP.

Well my motivation is the retail stores. I want to see my stuff in every clothing store I walk into so when I go in the stores to see who’s doing what and I don’t see William Boston that makes me wanna grind harder point blank.

WHAT ELEMENT DO U FEEL U BRING TO THE INDUSTRY, BECAUSE U KNOW LIKE I KNOW EVERYBODY AND THEY MOMMA THINK THEY A DESIGNER...WHAT SEPERATES WILLIAM BOSTON APPAREL?

Yeah you ain’t lyin, Whenever I’m in another city there’s always that one person that comes up to you and say where you get that from then I tell them it’s from my line and they say "oh my brother or my sister do the same thang" but the difference is that they’re not on the same grind ya digg. The thing that separates William Boston Apparel from others is the uniqness and plus I do this from the heart ya digg, I love what I do so I make sure everything is certified.

DO U FIND IT MORE DIFFICULT TO BLOW UP BEING IN THE SOUTH? BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT MOST URBAN DESIGNERS ARE FROM THE NORTH

No. When you are in the south I think it’s easier because not that many people are doing the same thing now up north everybody as the same aspiration so in a since it can be less difficult.

YOUR CLOTHING LINE IS EXTREMELY UNIQUE....HOW DO U MANAGE TO MAKE A DIFFERENT DESIGN FOR EVERY SHIRT. YOU BEEN DOING IT FOR SOME YEARS MY MAN...LOL...HOW DO U DO IT?

I got so many designs in my head that it’s scary. I just think out side of the box because my work is like life everyday is a new day whatever happened the day before is not going to happen the next day so that’s how I treat my work. I keep it brand new.

A LOT OF YOUR WORK DEALS WITH PAINT....WHAT MAD U CHOOSE TO GO THAT ROUTE. I KNOW SOME OF YOUR NEW STUFF IS QUITE DIFFERENT, BUT PAINT IS GENERALLY YOUR BREAD AND BUTTER..TOUCH ON THAT

I started out with paint because I used to paint shoes and one day I made some crazy color adidas and I didn’t have nothing to wear with them so I created a design on a shirt to match the shoes. I wore that outfit to a football game and people was going crazy over something I made at home and that’s how the whole hand painted thing eveolved.

DO PEOPLE CONFUSE YOUR WORK WITH MISKEEN? AND HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?
At first people did because they were on a national level with the hand painting thing but after I put my own flair into it people started to take notice that it wasn’t the same thing. But I appreciate miskeen cuz they opened the doors for artist like me to walk through so shouts to miskeen.
